anyway.. i told e guy joshua to give me some time to tink..
he asked me to call back within 30min

soon my mum called..
she told my sis tat joshua called coz he can;t reached me..

so she gave him my sis no..

i called n accepted lah.. better den nothing
lata he smsed my sis to give some instrucitons..

anyway this shop provides such a service tat u can take yr IC size photo n save it in a diskette for extra charge but can juz bring tat disk to develop more photos in future to save a hassle of taking e photo again..
ppl who know me well, know tat i LOVE to take photos! but NOT e IC type one lah.. always turn out v UGLY one..

woke up early at 6 plus.. coz need to go submit e doc early in e morn..
8 to 10am.. n they have daily quota.. if come too late. have to make anoter trip..
anyway i reached at 8.30 like dat... n was no 17 already.. sianz//
waited super long.. onli settled at 10 plus..

anyway.. one obervation i made is tat most other ppl who r here for e same purpose.. renunication.. all came wif one parent, both parents, or with their siblings..
and i am alone..
aiyo.. most of them din get their doc n stuffs rite lor..
ok.. the list is reali quite long.. total of more den 15 items.. all need photocopies n original.. and i spent v long prep it..
anyway.. suddenly feel rather proud tat i can settle them alone.. and guess wat.. most of them.. took daMN long.. coz they lack tis n tat.. run to e photocopy shop.. photocopy den run back.. waste of mY TIME lor..

gt one family to my left... e gal face super black.. coz she blames her dad for forgetting to bring sth.. den hor.. they realise e 3 photos she brought r nt acceptable.. coz... needs to be e same.. n den the parents were lecturing their daughter for nt bringing all..

quite amusing. but it is tis type of ppl who waste my time

after BBQ.. washing up..
a big group of us went for BOWLIng.. quite entertaining lah..

firstly.. i went for the briefing in e morn... coz i missed e train.. i was rather late and was running to catch e bus..
anyway,, coz i was wearing a rather loose jeans. and was pullinh it as i run (already a v hilarious scene).. i dropped my water-bottle, metal.. and landed wif a loud clang! everyone (as in e rest who were running after e bus) stopped n looked back at me! and e bus waited for me lor.. so paiseh.. hee

anyway..i went for e briefing lah,.. and on e bus.. i realised i forget my letter! (tat is needed for e noon lor.. sianz.. gt to beg my sis to take fm me..)
so.. went for e meeting..
den.. went club room..
and waited super long for 95! aiyo.. at least 25 min. sianz

ok..was late n my sis acc me to the Malaysian High Commissioner..
yeah. my parents were malaysian n althou i was born in singapore.. i am hold a cert of citizenship fro malaysia.
n upon reaching 21.. i need to renounce one of them lah.. tat explains why i need to Go..

sorry to those who had been reading my blog. dun reali mean to harp on tis.. but i am reali troubled over it.. so much so.. even when sleepin.. i am tinkin abt it.. n of coz have nitemares...

i guess it is coz i am unsure of myself.. nt sure of wat i want.. as well as wat i can achieve
ppl always say.. follow yr heart. do tis..do that.. words tat come out so easily n naturally.. without understanding that this means alot to me.. it is a major step!

engin.. close to wat i do as a major.. great insight to wat an engineer does, equally challenging BUT will be isolated fm e rest doing biz.. even location.. may have prob in sharing hsing.. i may nt acquire enuff exp to do well in my minor.. networkin is more limited

interest wise.. i tink i prefer engin.
BUt,... i noe.. if i take engin.. i will be disadvantaged agst e rest for e minor.. BUT does it matter?

hmm.. actuly as boring as usual.. e talk I mean.. hee hee
I dozed off a few times and was caught by a collegue who *winked at me..
After tat I was rather awake le.. a bit paiseh lah..
Anyway, he is an indian, EEE NTU student, graduating tis july. For both days. He was v formally attired in long sleeves and pants and we all to he is very old like late 20s? was so surprised when he said he was yr 4.. haha..

Anyway.. during lunch.. he asked where we r gg lunch.. so we 5 of us. Me M, YL, HL n him went to pastamania for lunch.

Somemore.. he holds EEE degree.. nt biz-related at all buthe gona work as investment consultant (dun exactly noe wat but sth along tat line..)
Hmmm, dunno he is being nice or trying to show off a bit..,mebe jzu super excite.. and he says that he wants to go back to office to get his namecards if ready n to chk some emails.. and ask if M n I would like to go take a look.

On one hand. I am stil v impressed by e fact that his office is at ONE FULLERTON..on e other hand.. I feel tat it might be a big inappropriate for us to enter hotel n company.. I am dressed in a jeans n a top..anyway.. M said ok. And I merely tag along. while walking.. i din reali engaged in their conversation n merely listened n busy enjoying e scenery despite e sorching sun..

And..inside e hotel.. I am busying looking ard..yes,… as you might haved guessed.. my first time there.. hmmm,, everything is SO posh there.. and (dun laugh at me) even e escalators n travellors are energy-saving and only moved when u r near it..
E office too.. thou level 2.. have a breath-taking view of the Singapore river.. and directly opp the land where Integrated Resort will be. All – in all, the office reali looks v impressive.. and nice n posh!

Back to e training. We had a round of hands-on session.. where we need to get in pairs to try interviewing n keying e info into e PDA.. so HL n YL a part, M n tat Indian guy a pair.. so I am e odd one.. and have to go join another gp.. to pair wif tis guy fm NTu yr 3 EEE, WS. His gf is in yr4 EV but I dunno who lah.. but he was rather impressed that I am in CHE. Anyway. He was reali v nice.. n experienced lor..he asked if I had done surveys b4.. and he tot me lots of tricks n short-cuts to get things done.. so the hands-on was quite enjoyable lah..

Nothing else interesting abt e training.. onli thing to complain is that I dunno when I am starting work! Sianz.. gt to wait for supervisior to call me.. and I am allocated to Hong kar region.. sianz.. sounds far..

3 May (Part II) B dae cele wif SL5

yeah. Went back to training.. and was rather convinced that I am nt e one they want coz I told them bluntly I dunno what I want.. ha I tink I made a fool of myself when my voice sort of crack halfway thru e interview..

back to office.. first time touching a PDA. Quiet excited n spoke to 2 other gals..YL n HL.. they were quite helpful.. oh.. regarding e gal I approached in e morning.. M, I guess she is a bit dao but no choice interact wif me juz like I no choice approached her.. we diff freq lah.. she SoC one. Previously fm SP, so super gd wif comps stuff n PDA.. anyway.. I sat nxt to e 2 new fren who guided me along. They fm NTU, knew each other since sec 1. so can imagine e closeness.. hee

after day,, met cheese, serene n camy at causeway point. We went to Kampung Dayz to wait for Yanjun. Aiyo, I was seated juz infront of e mirror..being quite zi lian.. I keep looking at myself in e mirror.. hee hee

had a long nice chat wif the,m regarding bits n pieces of our lives.. gossip a bit.. chat a nbit. Ordered food.. while waiting for yanjun..

she arrived, we carried on e chat, asked abt her attachment n I gave them 2 xin li you xi.. so quite fun.. we are all super full lor.
Actuly feel quite bad. They dun let me treat.. and they treated me instead..

Hah.. as usual, we went to our lao di fang to take photos n for present-presentation! Hee hee
Tooks quite a no of photos n gao xiao abit.
They give me tis nicely decorated photo frame with many many small photos overlapped each other.. mebbe 50 photos? Nvr count. Hee hee. Mebbe nxt time when I can’t sleep.. instead of counting sheeps.. I can count e photos instead,,

And also this card.. with e lyrics of “reflection” nicely printed out and pasted in a border drawn by serene..with bells on top n roses below.. oso gt inside e card there are also more drawing of items that are representative of the different phases of life.. fm baby, to child, teenager n now an adult! Haha and the stupid cheese actuly draw a 32-24-32 mermaid n stick my photo on e face..

Interview

Was 10 mins early but I heard e interview was delayed coz XM(e first onee) was late.. and so it dragged on,,
Waited for 3.20 to abt 4pm.. while waiting I can hear a bit of e interview n was rather nervous.. coz I tink HL(e gal b4 me) sounded v confident. Sth which I lack.. aiyo.. I am always nt so gd such that I can hear my voice cracking..as thou I gona break down like dat.. silly stupid me..
HL came out.. smiling.. confident.. with make up, a tight blouse and short skirt..gracefully she waved at me.. and then walked out smartly..
At at moment.. I looked at myself. Grey blouse, black pants, no makeup, hair tied at e back. Big $10 or $9 worth espirit bag. Plus a paper bag wif my sneakers inside. Coz for training e dress code is casual.
Hmmm, plain me vs well-dressed fashionable HL.. reali feel like taking my leave n give it a missed..

Hmmm, I would say e interviewer did ask some expected qns which I noe how to ans..and also some expected qns which I answered in a way which is true to me but I noe is not the answer they want.

There were 2 interviews one guy n one gal.. e lady is nicer n her qns are easier to ans.. as for e guy.. ehem..

Some sample qns n answers tat I rem:
Basically there r looking for ppl to do marketing n sales for them..

why do you want to take up tis program..
I told them I wanna try a hand on some other stuff other den engineering..
(actuly.. I may be lying.. coz one part of me tinks sticking to chem. Engin stuff might be safer in case I wana be engineer in future.. but e other part of me tinks tat a diff exp muz be quite refreshing n gd..)

he asked me why I chose triple sci n chem. Eng..e so heavy subject..
I told him.. coz I am better in sci n maths as compared to humanities..more interested n confident.chose engin coz wanted a professional degree.. chem. Eng coz more interested n better prospects..

Immediately.. he shot back.. who says so?
Oops.. I tot him.. chem. Engine industry yet to be saturated.. stil needs expertise n pro.. more like a safeguard.. to be a chem. Engineer.. need cert. to try other stuffs.. mebbe a general degree will be sufficient..so.. in case i change my mind n wana do other stuffs it is nt too late.

So u r in fact protecting e “down side” yet yearning for u “upside”? so what exactly are you thinking during your course of studies all these years?
Wa.. I stunned for while.. and responded.. I think I am juz a typical Singaporean student. Follows e rigid path.. taking whatever which I can do better n whatever which is deem to be good by others.. by government. Unless some, I dun exactly noe what I want, choose sth which is deem gd.. and do my best to excel in it. Perhaps. It is also coz I dunno wat I want, I reali hope to discover for myself what I am reali suited for, and this programme, this internship will allow me to make me understand myself on a personally level. However I do understand on the company side, it reali takes quite a bit to convinced them to take me and let me have a chance to try

So what makes you think will convince the company to take in some one with no prior knowledge?
I guess when the company believes that the person has what it takes and when e person fits e company’s expectation?

Come to think of it.. e gal also asked a couple of difficult n sensitive qns.:
E part when I tink my voice cracked e most.. silly me. I juz can’t control my emotions sometimes.. but I dun wanna appear like a fool!

I see socializing as of different levels. In a gathering or social meeting, one which I dunno anyone, mebbe takin the example when I first start working at a particular company.. I would say I am definitely nt e eye-catching one whom everyone will take notice of me, instead I would quietly observe n look out for ppl who r more of my kind, less active, reserved n lost? N approached them first.. den slowly form “my gp”.. when we have gt e numbers.. we will slowly catch more attention n perhaps get a chance to interact n approach e “shining” group.

Singing also wat. U meant KTV? U dare to sing yet consider yrself as introvert?
I rebutted I dun go singing wif strangers.. I go with close friends..

How about Volunteering?
Oh.. we volunteer nt for e sake of socializing thou I dun deny there is some form of interaction involved. Perhaps, we go with the same mindset, it’s much more easier..

Oh.. what a tough qn, I hestitant for quite some time.. b4 I say.. perhaps.. i wun say I have very high IQ n EQ but definitely above average.. as in..thou I might nt be the best, e most pop pr socialable.. I can get along well wif others..gain their respects n yet to get into any major conflicts so far in sch n at work. I guess I noe when to shut up, when to spk up, when to be more sensitive and when to take initiative. Like I say juz now.. I tend to observe more b4 taking action.

Anyway.. the interview was quite long. I tink it took abt 40-50 mins.. I can’t remember.. I tot I have no chance le..but was gald that e interview.. set me into thinking a lot.. hee

yeah.. made myelf a great free labourer on sun.. busy clearing up tat dirty messy rm of my bro.. transforming it fm a “pig sty” to a neater room now..

Hmmm,..oh in e morning..i was watching tis show which taped.. e 恋爱行星.. abt a love story abt a gal wif loves dancing but died in a car accident n a postman who is deaf.. v touching.. sobz sobz..
Noon.. I went to my cousin’s hse to visit her coz she juz had an operation.. so glad she is better now. Wa.. my auntie keep “stuffing” food to my sis n i.. chips, coke, ice-cream, durian, mango, mango milk-shake..all as snacks n tea lor.. so so so full lor…den watched 2 episode of e 天堂的阶梯 at my cousin’s hse.. throughout e show.. I was busyin scolding 友莉 for being a scheming n evil sister.. ad sympathesize wif e poor, gentle n sweet静舒. Haha..typical Korean show.. but I was stil taken by it.anyway,.. we stayed til close to five before we head home coz stil need to prepare for interview on 3rd May.
Back home.. at nite.. I am grumbling n moaning over the fact that I have an interview e nxt afternoon at united square at 3.30pm and have to attend a training fm 9am to 6pm at cityhall there,,,

HAIZ.. I have nt enjoyed myself lor!

Anyway for e interview rite.. there r a total of 6 of us.. 2 went on sat.4 gg on tue, so I msged e 2 ppl (a gal called XL n a guy called chee WEE)who went on sat n asked them how it was. Actuly.. nvr talked to them personally b4 n was trying my luck to see if they will respond.. hee hee..
Den.. XLl replied tat it was ok. N wished me luck.. and was surprised tat there is another CHEE WEI
Anyway,, e guy said it was a long story n asked me to call him if I free..
So I called…
Hmmm, he is very helpful n nice.. and told me wat happened exactly.. highlighting things which I shd take note.. wat he tinks they want.. etc.. he said he din do well.. and it’s better for me to try to secure a place somehow even if I dun reali like it.. told me directions etc.. hmmm, was rather impressed by him..
nvr talked to me b4 yet so helpful..
initially I tot it might be awkward n inappropriate to ask too many qn,,but he juz blurt out everything..

3 May..(PART 1)
aiyo.. woke up early in e morn at 6 plus. Was feeling REALLY v tired..
coz slept late e previous nite to prepare for e interview.

Was on time.. and went for training,.. I tink there are abt 20 ++ of us.. mostly fm NTU. So they sort of noe each other..
OK.. alone again.. BIG deal.. nt e first time wat.. in fact for most of my jobs so far.. I always go alone..
But I guess.. it is easier when everyone dunno everyone. And harder if u r one of e few who dunno anyone.. anyway.. I merely observe n sat alone during e first half of e meeting.. usually I wil initiate conservation to anyone nxt to me.. but e guy nxt to him.. REALI look v DAO.. so I juz REFUSed to talk first.. ha..
During break.. anyway. I saw tis gal at a corner n approached her n start to make some conversation n yeah! Found a lunch partner. Haha.. (v 现实hor?)
Hmmm, I am e sort who is nt super socialable but dun like to be too alone lah.. haha.. “不堪寂寞” type.. who needs company lah.. so was v glad to at least find someone to talk too..
Anyway.. e training was rather slack n had a 1.25hr lunch break!
After lunch.. sit thru more training abt e use of PDA.. den.. I left e training place n headed for my interview,( nxt blog coz toolong le)

yup.. 21st bdae .. to most… is a BIG thing in their lives..
I used to tink tat it is like most other bdaes..
Nothing much lah.. cake.. bdae presents.. b dae wishes..
Actuly to me.. all these dun mean much to me..
I dun reali mind if there was any cake or present..

I was v honoured n blessed to cele wif my chem. Eng frenz @ REDANG… during our vacation trip..
They managed to get a cake at e island..
and jiating even brought a super size bear all e way fm Singapore in her luggage to redang..
meiying n jiating shopped for a v sweet n nice necklace for me…
and
They all planned for a surprise party for me..

Plong n I shared a room and ours is connected to Zhen siong’s n joreen’s rm…
B4 11.45pm.. on 29th april 2004.. abt 8 of us were happily playing cards in our room..
Den e phone rang.. it was Patrick.. and Jian yao answered e call..
JY den told us tat pat say we gt to turn in coz.. e nxt day we gt to set off at 6 plus.. v early..
And immediately.. everyone dispersed..

Eh.. plong went toilet wash up.. while I sat at my bed wondering..
She quickly came out n e phone rang again..
She jzu listened to e instructions.. and told me to go wash up as well..after ending e call..
Of coz.. I knew sth was gg on.. and told her..
“hey hey 你以为我的智商这么低吗？”
“你不要想太多。。。”
“是吗？”
“唉呀，你能不能装笨一点”
haha.. so I listened to her and quietly go wash up..
e phone rang again..

plong told camy on e line wat I told her.. but in order nt to disappoint e rest she quickly added..

den plong purposely mentioned sth abt calling off e whole thingy n everyone go sleep..
den she told me cnx le.. ask me go sleep as well..
den I told her.. reali ah.. if I sleep .. I reali will sleep one lei.. haha

so I laid down n rested..
I was tinkin.. mebe they might come in by e door.. and I was v near e door..
Den suddenly.. Patrick POPPED up in e room..
But e front door was not even opened!
He came in thru e connecting door,,,
I was den told to close my eyes.. while he lead me to e other room..
Where e 22 of them were waiting.. e birthday cake lit..
Toegther they sang a birthday song for me..
I am reali super super touched…
Aiyo.. but tis was nt all.. coz after tat.. I was told to “carry out some tasks” b4 I could get my puzzle..
That is a “punishment”for me for bring so “smart”..since they can’t surprise me.. they gt to整 me..

There r a total of of 6 rounds..
1 am given a mathematical puzzle to solve.. I solved it and e answer is 16
I was given a woden block puzzle.. if I can solve it.. I can take my present.. if I can’t.. I need to complete some other tasks.. I tried but I can’t solve it.. so….
another IQ qn.. if 4 = Diana, what is 16? Find out who e person is.. and you gt to do sth to e peron..
out of pressure(22 pairs of eyes on u.) I blurted out a name.. and was forced to complete my “task” under the jestering of e crowd.. (v v malu.. )
After tat malu act.. I was given 1 min to observe the crowd and was told to go to Pat’s room to his safe to retrieve sth…
so I went to his room and there was another qn for me to solve.. e ans is the password to open the safe.. “how many of us are shortsighted?’.. after some counting and trial n error.. I gt e answer and opened his safe.. in his safe.. there is another room key///
so I went to e room and.. I went to collect my bear n necklace!! Finally

back in e room.. everyone were waiting..
and I returned wif e presents..
it was reali v v memorable..
it’s reali great to noe tis whole bunch of frenz..
I mean.. they were all fm tis big OG called selines… and all except me plong(I dragged her one) and JY(clsmate)..
But all of them including their seniors were so nice to me..
I am reali v fortunate to noe them…

Yup.. all these were special enuff for me. Reali.. and I reali enjoyed all their company and appreciate all e smses I received.. I was already v v happy

On e way back.. plong smsed me..
She told me.. she wanna borrow a text fm me and asked if she could come over n get.
As we always lend each other stuffs I dun suspect anything n sure I told her tat I am on my way home..
She says she will sms me when she reached..
When I reached home..at 10 plus.. ask when will she arrive.. coz I am tinkin if I shd bathe first..
She quickly replied and said that she will arrive soon..
So I asked my sis to acc me and we went down..

I was early n I squatted down n waited wif my sis..
Plong ran fm e other side..
(usually her dad drives her here n she will park at e place where I was waiting)..so told me her dad park somewhere else coz her mum wanna buy sth..
anyway.. I juz passed her e text.. and she passed me a card..
it was a card fm PLong, Yu, Qi and teng..
I was v touched already coz it is now during the exams period..
And they stil gt a card for me.. written by e 4 of them..
Happily I bidded gd bye and took e lift up wif my sis..

Holding e card in my hands.. I walked out e lift and turned towards the stairs..
Q, Yu n Teng.. jumped out fm behind e stairs. wif a cake n present in their hands..
Yu holding a camera.. all ready to capture e SHOCKED look on my face..

They sang e b dae song for me.. while I was stil trying to absorb wat was gg on infront of me..
Plong den took another lift and joined us..
They sang me e song.. I blew off e candle.. and made a wish..
Coz it was v late already.. they left shortly..

Til now.. I am stil v v v touched by their surprise!
It was close to 11 already at that time..and ALL 3 other den plong stayed in sengkang..
Plong n Qi stil had exams nxt week…
Teng is now doing attachment…
And they were all sweating.. coz of e hot weather….
They had been waiting at causeway pt for me to come home lor..
They refused to tell me how long they had waited..
But fm their tired face..At late time
I knew they must have waited v long..
I smsed them to express my thanks n appreciation..
and also my “sorryness” for making them wait so long
but they nvr complain.. instead junyu replied:

“yeah.. reali hope u like it. You must be tried, after a long day, we will meet up another time..rest well. Happy 21st bdae. Congrats”

having known him since 1997.. he is one who seldom express his “concern” for us.. e 4 other gals..
but I was reali rather touched by his sms lei..

after tis dramatic surprise.. I bathed and went online..
was greeted wif more b dae wishes..
fm peijie (CSC senior), keith(who is in Australia now), junjie(who sent his wishes at 11.48pm hoping to be e last to wish me Happy bdae).. followed by belated wishes fm wenghong(ballo junior), Claudine (yishun senior)and Aiwen(JC clsmate) who wished me after 12am..
